Asari Dokubo accuses how “Olu Of Warri and Osahon Idahosa collecting N2.7tn annually from federal Govt

Former Niger Delta militant leader, Asari Dokubo, has alleged that the Olu of Warri, Ogiame Atuwatse III, and Osahon Idahosa receive ₦2.7 trillion annually from the Federal Government for protecting oil pipelines.

Dokubo made the claim in a viral video while defending former militant leader Government Ekpemupolo, popularly known as Tompolo, amid criticism of his involvement in pipeline surveillance contracts in the Niger Delta.

In the video, Dokubo questioned why Tompolo had attracted public scrutiny over pipeline surveillance arrangements while, according to his allegation, other individuals were benefiting from similar contracts.

He specifically named the Olu of Warri and Idahosa, whom he identified as the son of the late Captain Osa, arguing that the scrutiny surrounding Tompolo should also extend to other alleged beneficiaries of pipeline protection deals.

Dokubo also claimed Arthur Eze previously held the contract and that he saw former Abia State Governor and Senator representing Abia North, Orji Uzor Kalu, own vessels operating in their waters.

However, Dokubo did not present publicly available contracts or payment records to substantiate the ₦2.7 trillion claim. Reports also noted that he gave conflicting descriptions of the figure, referring to it as both a monthly and an annual payment.
