Senators to storm London over Ekweremadu, wife

The Senate has resolved to send a delegation to the United Kingdom in solidarity with former Deputy Senate President Senator Ike Ekweremadu and his wife, Beatrice.

Senate President Ahmad Lawan disclosed this on Wednesday after a closed-door session of the red chamber.

Ekweremadu and wife are being held in the UK on allegations of conspiracy to harvest the organ of a minor. The age of the said minor is being contested. Ekweremadu and wife have denied wrongdoing.

“All federal government agencies should ensure that justice is done in the Ekweremadu’s case. The ministry of Foreign Affairs should ensure they provide every service that is required for the traveling and the engagement of our committee.”

Lawan also said the Federal Government through the Nigerian High Commission to the United Kingdom hired lawyers to defend Ekweremadu and wife.

The couple was last week arrested and arraigned at Oxbridge Magistrates Court in London.

The court remanded them in custody till July 7, 2022.
