Sanwo-Olu, Elumelu, Ben Murray-Bruce grace cocktail party in honour of Dangote

Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, chairman of Transcorp Group, Tony Elumelu; and Senator Ben Murray-Bruce were among the dignitaries who graced the cocktail party held in Lagos on Thursday evening in honour of Africa’s richest man Aliko Dangote.

The party was put together by businessman Richie Shittu and entertainment promoter Cecil Hammond.

Sanwo-Olu and others, including comedian Bovi, gathered to celebrate Dangote over his refinery which started production this January.

Commissioned in May 2023 by ex-President Muhammadu Buhari after years of delay, the facility in the Lekki area of Lagos State is billed as Africa’s largest oil refinery.

Murray-Bruce said at the party that he was honoured to have met Dangote when the latter was the richest man in the Apapa area of Lagos.

On Friday, Murray-Bruce, the co-founder of Silverbird Group, wrote on social media: “Yesterday, I had the pleasure of attending a cocktail party to celebrate my brother and friend, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, @aliko_dangotegcon, on the inauguration of his refinery, which is already producing diesel and aviation fuel. The event was attended by several distinguished guests, including Governor jidesanwoolu, my good friend @TonyOElumelu, and other notable individuals.”

The former Bayelsa East senator shared a video of himself speaking at the occasion and also photos.

Mr Elumelu shared a video and photos of the party on Instagram Story also on Friday. “Last night at the cocktail celebration in honor of my good friend Alicash, marking the commencement of operations at the Dangote Refinery,” he wrote, praising the hosts in another post.
