Tee Mac, Orits Wiliki Drum Support For New PMAN President

FOLLOWING the resignation of former president of the Performing Musicians Association of Nigeria, PMAN, Hon. Keston Okoro, the National Working Committee of the artistes’ body, NWC, activated Rule 12 sub section 2 and rule 13 sub section 4 clause of its constitution and the First Vice President, Dr. Gbega Falope Jnr. was sworn in last week as the new national president.

At a quality gathering which preceded the NWC meeting held at the O’jez Chinese restaurant inside National Stadium, Surulere, Lagos, Falope Jnr, in his acceptance speech thanked members of PMAN and called for support from all past presidents of the association.“I am being addressed as President today not because I am the wisest, or wealthiest or most knowledgeable among all but it has been appointed that I will oversee the affairs of this noble association beginning from today till the end of my tenure and I assure all that I will do my best to restore the pride, honor and dignity of this body, qualities that have been missing for some time now in PMAN.”

The new president praised his predecessor, Hon. Okoro for doing his best before throwing in the towel even as he assured that that he won’t make PMAN his “personal property, but the property of all, that is why I am going to run a joint leadership with all and I appeal all to join hands with me especially past leaders present here, to take PMAN to its once enviable heights. Past president know of our challenges, so I appeal that when I run to them for consultations on how to solve any knotty issue, they will open their doors very wide for me.”

In response, former president Tee Mac, an international acclaimed flutist and jazz musician assured Falope Jnr that he would not only open his doors for him but “I will fully support you (Falope Jnr) with my time, money and energy.”
Reggae musician who ruled the Nigerian music scene in the 90s, Pupa Orits Wiliki, a former First Vice president of PMAN also pledged his support for the new government of the body. He however called for vibrancy from the new president in terms of execution of projects that would impact positively on the life of members.

At the NWC meeting earlier, it was agreed that Barrister Dada Owoshika be appointed the new Legal Adviser of PMAN while a motion was also moved by M. Adex Aiyeloja to move the Second Vice president, Baba Ojonugwa to the position of the First Vice president in line with PMAN constitution. The motions were all seconded.
