The Yanny-Laurel Debate Has Finally Been Settled

[ad_1]

The internet can turn into downright chaos when it comes to guessing the color of a certain blue or gold dress and listening to an audio clip that most definitely says “Laurel” and not “Yanny.”

Since that audio clip surfaced, the Internet has descended into more chaos than is typically normal. But the man who created the clip is here to settle the debate once and for all.

Actor Jay Aubrey Jones originally voiced the clip for Vocabulary.com back in 2007, he confirmed he said “laurel”

Jones said he first found out about the debate a week ago when his phone was blowing up with texts and calls.

He told NBC New York,

“Oddly enough I had not recognized my own voice when I heard it on television. I’m completely and utterly floored by this, I’m really amused … every so often I’m laughing.”

He also explained why some people hear “Yanny” while others rightfully hear “Laurel.”

Jones told CNN,

“It’s all depending upon the frequencies that you use on your listening device,” which also matches up with what University of Arizona professor Brad Story told the news outlet last week. Story said the audio quality was already low and when people listen on different devices, there’s bound to be some confusion.

Well there we have it people, it’s laurel.
