Rick Famuyiwa to direct Tomi Adeyemi’s Children of Blood and Bone fantasy movie

Director of coming-of-age movie, Dope, Rick Famuyiwa, has been announced as director for Fox 2000’s Children of Blood and Bone, an action fantasy film based on the New York Times bestselling novel by Nigerian-American author, Tomi Adeyemi.

In a tweet on Thursday, Adeyemi shared the news saying: “ITS HAPPENING YOU GUYS😭😄😭” with an attached tweet of the development.

Famuyiwa has written and directed films like The Wood, Brown Sugar.

Famuyiwa will be joined in the production by Temple Hill’s Marty Bowen, Isaac Klausner, and John Fischer, including Sunswept Entertainment’s Karen Rosenfelt, under the production banner VERSE.

The project will be one of the first for the recently launched company.

Adeyemi published Children of Blood and Bone on March 6, 2018, quickly hitting best-seller status.

She has followed her success with a second novel in an intended trilogy, Children of Virtue and Vengeance, set for release on June 4, 2019.
