Peter Obi, Akpabio, El-Rufai gather in Abuja for retired Supreme Court Justice Amina Augie

Dignitaries on Sunday attended the 70th birthday party of the retired Justice of the Supreme Court Amina Augie in Abuja.

Among them were the presidential candidate of the Labour Party in the February 25 election, Peter Obi; Senate President Godswill Akpabio; and former governor of Kaduna State Nasir El-Rufai.

Also present was the senior advocate of Nigeria, Mike Ozekhome; former minister of information and culture, Lai Mohammed; former governor of Cross River, Donald Duke; and media mogul, Dele Momodu.

Former governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria and also the immediate past Emir of Kano Muhammadu Sanusi was at the party.

Musician 2Baba thrilled guests with his energetic performance.

Augie was born on September 3, 1953, in Lagos. She has eight siblings and hails from Kebbi State. Between 1958 and 1971, she had her primary and secondary education in different schools including Abadina School, Ibadan, Hope Waddell Primary School, Calabar, Holy Rosary Primary School, Enugu and in Kaduna at Queen Amina College from 1969 to 1971.

After her early education, Augie enrolled at the University of Ife, Ile-Ife (now OAU) from 1972 to 1977 where she bagged LLB. She then attended the Nigerian Law School and became a barrister and solicitor of the Federal Republic of Nigeria in 1978. She later enrolled at the University of Lagos to obtain her LLM between 1986 and 1987 in criminology.
