Murphy Afolabi buried in Lagos

Actor Murphy Afolabi has been buried in Ikorodu, Lagos State following his death on Sunday, May 14.

The Yoruba actor died after a fall in the bathroom at his Ikorodu home.

Murphy’s body arrived the burial ground on Monday from the mortuary in a transparent casket. Mourners wept bitterly as they saw his body.

The actor’s children did the dust-to-dust ritual after prayers were said by Islamic clerics. Following this, Murphy’s body was laid to the ground.

The actor was initially scheduled for burial in his hometown in Osogbo, Osun State capital.

Yoruba actor Bolaji Amusan aka Mr Latin attended the burial.

On arrival, he was accosted by youths who called themselves “omo adugbo” and prevented from accessing the thespian’s burial ground.

The youths demanded that Mr Latin would give them money before they would allow him access to the burial ground.

Mr Latin, president of the Theatre Arts and Movies Practitioners Association of Nigeria, arrived at the location around 3:00pm.

The issue was later resolved and Mr Latin was eventually granted access.

Born in Osun State, Murphy graduated from Ire Polytechnic in the same state. He got into the movie industry in 2001.
