Labour Party’s candidate for Imo Assembly Wasco killed

Labour Party candidate for the Imo State House of Assembly polls Christopher Elehu, popularly known as Wasco, has been killed.

Gunmen stormed his home on Friday morning and set the house on fire.

Elehu, who was bidding to represent Onuimo Local Government Area, was found dead with machete cuts on his body, according to a source quoted by PUNCH.

It was gathered that gunmen took over his house for two hours.

“They killed the man and burnt his house. They also destroyed his property. His corpse was laying on the floor with matchet cuts when villagers gathered in the morning,” the source said.

The police in the state had yet to issue a statement on the incident.

The killing of the politician came days after the LP candidate in Okigwe, Chukwunonye Irouno, died suddenly.
