Actress and filmmaker Funke Akindele has finally shut down rumour that she has fallen out with her ‘protégé’, actor, Tobi Makinde.
Many have been speculating that the duo are no longer on speaking terms because Tobi indicated an interest in working with other filmmakers besides Funke whom he often referred to as his mentor and the actress refused to give him her blessing.
According to a blogger, the co-directors of Battle on Buka Street went their separate ways due to the disagreement.
However, Funke put the rumour to rest on Sunday when she celebrated Tobi who plays the character Shina, one of the actress’ sons in her latest film A Tribe Called Judah on her Instagram account.
The 46-year-old shared an Instagram reel of Tobi and showered praises on his movie character.
Reacting in the comment section of the post, Tobi wrote: “Oya Eyin Omo Oro, e shi awon omo eruku wole!!!! @_atribecalledjudah is still showing!!! Go and see it now. No gree for anybody to tell you storyline o.”
A few fans stormed the comment section of the post to express their delight over Funke’s mention of Tobi.

“Working with Aunty Funke Akindele has been amazing. It has been spectacular. I’ve learned a lot from her. There are so many things I thought I knew before I met her, but my horizons widened when I met her. She knows the nitty-gritty and the rudiments of filmmaking. And I’m talking from the script development process to principal photography to post-production. She is a genius when it comes to marketing as well. I’ve learned a lot,” he said in parts.
