An illegal factory in Anambra was sealed off by a government taskforce

An illegal disinfectant plant hidden in plain sight has been busted by the Anambra OCHA Brigade, leaving neighbors shocked and worried.

The quiet neighborhood of Chris Ugoezu Street in Odume Obosi turned into a crime scene on Tuesday after officers of Operation Clean and Healthy Anambra (OCHA) Brigade raided a covert chemical factory operating from a residential building.

According to OCHA Brigade’s MD, Celestine Anere, the unit acted on intelligence to uncover a facility producing fake household chemicals with zero regulatory oversight.

“The amount of illegal chemicals and counterfeit products we found was alarming,” Anere stated. “There were stacks of unregistered antiseptic soaps, liquids, and packaging materials designed to imitate legitimate brands.”

Some residents, like Ikechukwu Ukatwu, who lives in the same building, were caught off guard. “I never imagined this was happening right under our roof. The person was always quiet,” he said.

OCHA officials confirmed that suspects are in custody, with others being trailed. Anere emphasized that such operations will continue across the state.

“The safety of Anambra citizens is non-negotiable,” he declared.
