5 Things You Can Do To Relieve Stress At Work


Life as an employee in Nigeria can bring on a lot of work stress. Long hours, a demanding boss and heavy traffic are just a few things to put you on edge and make you want to pull your hair out.

So lets help you ease that work stress with these tips.

1. Listen to music

Scroll through your playlist to find a soothing song that can help calm your nerves and take you on a 5 minute imaginary trip to the Bahamas. Once the song is over, you’ll feel lighter and saner.

2. Watch something funny on YouTube

We all know YouTube is the heaven where all our favorite videos reside. But we also know it’s easy to fall down the rabbit hole and get caught up watching tons of videos. If that’s you, you could always head to Instagram to watch videos too.

Basically, get on your favorite funny page and laugh a little, or a lot. It’ll leave you feeling relaxed and all that work stress will just disappear.

3. Take a walk

Take a short walk around the office. Say hi to co workers and indulge in some light office banter. Or if your office has a little room to take a minute to have a nap, you should try laying down and clearing your mind.

This should perk you up and put at ease by the time you’re back to your desk.

4. Breathe

Take slow, deep and deliberate breaths in through your nose, hold for a few seconds and let it out through your mouth. repeat this 5 times and feel the stress melt off you like ice.

Really, it’s such an underrated tip. Try it and watch a semblance of calm settle where your stress once was.

5. Play a quick game of… candy crush maybe?

There are some really games on your phone or system that you can indulge in whenever you get too overwhelmed. Games are a fun distraction you can enjoy in 5 minutes.
