APC Validates Plateau Governor’s Jump from PDP

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has officially announced the defection of Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang, from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the ruling party.

The announcement was made on Wednesday by the APC National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, during the party’s 14th National Caucus meeting at the State House Conference Centre in Abuja. Yilwatda, a native of Plateau State, noted that with Mutfwang’s defection, all states in the North Central geopolitical zone are now under APC governance.

President Bola Tinubu is currently overseeing the APC National Caucus meeting, which began at 7:38 pm with his arrival. The gathering includes six governors who recently made the switch from the PDP to the APC.

Earlier on Monday, Plateau Governor Mutfwang’s Political Adviser, Mr. Istifanus Nwansat, revealed that the governor was preparing to join the APC. Nwansat attributed the decision to internal crises within the PDP, which he said had prompted Mutfwang to carefully assess the political landscape. He described the APC as the “safest option” in light of the ongoing instability within the opposition party. The move is also expected to align Plateau State with President Tinubu’s political direction and governance priorities.
