Ukraine’s Leader Urges Allies: Back ‘Regime Change’ in Russia

A fresh wave of Russian missile and drone strikes shattered the lives of civilians in Kyiv, killing seven people including a six-year-old boy, and drawing a powerful response from Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, who called for regime change in Moscow.

The brutal overnight attack ripped through a residential high-rise in western Kyiv, collapsing part of the building and leaving dozens wounded. The strikes were part of a larger assault involving over 300 drones and multiple cruise missiles, according to the Ukrainian air force.

“Seven lives of Kyiv residents were taken by the Russians in their night attack,” said Tymur Tkachenko, head of the city’s military administration. “The child died in an ambulance—another innocent life lost.”

Zelensky Warns World of Continued Russian Aggression Without Leadership Change

In an impassioned virtual address to commemorate 50 years since the Helsinki Accords, Zelensky emphasized the global danger of leaving Vladimir Putin in power.

“If the world doesn’t aim to change the regime in Russia, Moscow will continue to threaten not just Ukraine but all its neighbors,” he said. His message underscores growing frustration with the pace of international response to the nearly four-year war.

Eastern Ukraine in Danger: Russia Declares Victory in Chasiv Yar

While Kyiv grieved, Russia declared the capture of Chasiv Yar, a devastated town once home to 12,000 people in eastern Ukraine. The town has long been a strategic target for Russian forces, providing a potential gateway to major civilian cities like Kramatorsk and Sloviansk.

Ukraine quickly countered the claim, labeling it “false” and reaffirming control in the region.

International Pressure Mounts Amid Ongoing Civilian Deaths

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiga urged the global community to act decisively. “It’s time to put maximum pressure on Moscow. President Trump has shown patience, but now is the moment to act.”

Despite global condemnation, Russia continues to deny responsibility for civilian deaths, even as scenes of destroyed homes and grieving families circulate worldwide.
