Nigerian Army Invites Applications for Direct Short Service Commission

The Nigerian Army has officially opened applications for the Direct Short Service Commission (DSSC) Course 29/2026, calling on qualified Nigerians to enlist as commissioned officers.

In a statement released on Tuesday via the Army’s official X account, the DSSC programme was announced as open to both civilians and serving military personnel who possess relevant professional and technical qualifications.

Candidates who scale through the selection process will be commissioned into specialised corps of the Nigerian Army, where their expertise will play a key role in strengthening national defence and internal security operations.

The available corps include:

  • Nigerian Army Engineers

  • Nigerian Army Signals

  • Nigerian Army Medical Corps

  • Nigerian Army Electrical and Mechanical Engineers (NAEME)

  • Nigerian Army Education Corps

The Army emphasised that applications are completely free and must be submitted online only. The recruitment portal will be open from January 7 to February 4, 2026.

Prospective applicants are encouraged to apply early and ensure that all required information is accurately completed before submission.
