Isoken; The must see movie of the season!

What would you do if you were faced with a decision that could potentially tear apart relationships that you value the most?

This year, one movie will make you question how much you are willing to risk, to be true to yourself while struggling with family and societal expectations. The movie Isoken, played by screen goddess, Dakore Akande – searches for her own path in this heartwarming, yet funny love adventure. The movie will take the audience on a romantic and sometimes hilarious journey as it explores cultural expectations, racial stereotypes and bonds that unite families.

This movie chronicles the life of Isoken, a beautiful and successful yet single thirty-something year old woman, her family ties, friendships and love, while exploring these themes in touching, dramatic and sometimes funny ways.

This movie has a line up of some of the biggest names in the Nigerian and African film industry, starring, Dakore Akande, Funke Akindele, Damilola Attoh, Joseph Benjamin, Ghanaian superstar, Lydia Forson and introducing for the first time in film, media gal, Bolanle Olukanni.

Speaking on her character, lead actress, Dakore said “it’s been such an amazing experience for me personally and as an artist. One thing that resonated deeply and profoundly with me beyond the genius of this amazing production is the reality that lies in the story told through this movie. The way it explores many of our prejudices and stereotypes- stereotypes unconsciously embedded in us by culture, family and society and how they get in the way of our happiness and personal fulfillment. Adding, “Isoken is not just a movie, it’s the story of our lives as a people of culture and norm, but ultimately, in this movie, Isoken has to decide for herself and follow her heart – no matter where it takes her”.

The movie, which is set to premiere in June 2017 across several cities in Nigeria, West Africa and London, promises to create a connection with people of all races as it captures many parts of human interaction and experience.

Written, produced and directed by the talented brain behind Ndani TV and hit shows like Skinny Girl In Transit, Rumor Has It, Jade Osiberu.
