Senate begins Hearing of Minimum Wage Bill

The Nigerian Senate has begun consideration of the Minimum Wage Bill, giving it an accelerated hearing at the plenary.

President Muhammadu Buhari had on Thursday forwarded the proposed new minimum wage of ₦27,000 to the National Assembly, Punch reports.

Firms and businesses with less than 25 members of staff will be exempted from the stipulations of the bill, while punishment against defaulters will be strident.
