Prominent Businessman Nuel Ojei Passes Away at 74

Renowned businessman and Chief Executive Officer of Nuel Ojei Holdings Ltd, Emmanuel Ojei, has died at the age of 74.

Popularly known as Nuel Ojei, he passed away on Saturday night in his hometown of Issele-Uku, Aniocha North Local Government Area of Delta State.

His son, Chuks Ojei, confirmed the death in a statement released on Sunday on behalf of the family.

He described the loss as sudden, painful, and deeply personal.

“With a heavy heart, I confirm the passing of my beloved father,” the statement said. “His death came as a profound shock to our family after a brief illness.”

Chuks Ojei said the family is still struggling to come to terms with the loss of a man who meant far more than words could express.

“He was not only our father, but our strength, our teacher, and our moral compass,” he said.

He described Emmanuel Ojei as more than a successful businessman, calling him a builder of lives and legacies. As a distinguished Nigerian industrialist and entrepreneur, Ojei founded Nuel Ojei Holdings Ltd and served as its Executive Chairman and Chief Executive Officer.

“Through discipline, resilience, and uncommon wisdom, he built businesses that created opportunities, inspired excellence, and contributed meaningfully to national development,” the statement noted.

To many, Ojei was a mentor and a leader known for integrity. To his family, he was a loving father whose guidance shaped their lives and decisions.

“He led with humility, strength, and compassion, touching lives across generations,” the family said.

While his passing has left a void, his family said his values, teachings, and example would continue to guide them.

“Though this marks the end of a remarkable chapter, his legacy lives on through the institutions he built, the people he mentored, and the principles he upheld,” the statement added.

Emmanuel Ojei is survived by his children, extended family, and a wide circle of friends, associates, and admirers.

The family appealed for prayers and support during the period of mourning and said details of funeral arrangements would be announced later.

“An icon has fallen. A father is gone. His legacy will live forever,” the statement concluded.
