JAMB hires IT experts to probe alleged UTME glitches

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has launched an investigation into the alleged technical glitches that reportedly affected the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME). This follows public outcry over the results, in which 1.5 million out of 1.9 million candidates scored below 200 marks.

Top IT specialists and education assessment experts have been engaged to audit JAMB’s system. The board stated that while the complaints were not widespread, they prompted a system-wide post-examination review.

Education advocate Alex Onyia revealed that over 8,000 students were ready to pursue legal action, demanding transparency in result breakdowns and an option to challenge outcomes.
