FRSC Returns ₦3.7m Recovered from Kaduna Crash Site

Operatives of the Federal Road Safety Corps attached to the Zaria Unit Command in Kaduna State have recovered and returned ₦3,727,500 in cash along with valuables estimated at about ₦500,000 following a fatal road crash.

The accident occurred on Sunday, March 15, 2026, along the Zaria–Funtua Highway near Zaria Academy. The crash involved a Toyota Corolla and a Peugeot 806 carrying nine passengers.

In a statement issued on Monday, the Corps Public Education Officer, Felicia Kalu, disclosed that one passenger died at the scene, while eight others suffered various degrees of injuries.

According to the statement, rescue teams from the FRSC quickly responded after receiving a distress call, administering first aid to the victims before transporting the injured to Ahmadu Bello University Teaching Hospital for urgent treatment.

During the rescue and post-crash clearance operation, FRSC personnel reportedly discovered a large amount of money and other valuables scattered around the crash site.

The officers secured the ₦3,727,500 and safeguarded the recovered items, ensuring they were preserved until they could be returned to their rightful owners.

The statement further revealed that the Zaria Unit Commander, Nasiru Falgore, formally handed over the recovered cash to the victims in the presence of their relatives and witnesses on Monday.

Reacting to the development, the Corps Marshal of the Federal Road Safety Corps, Shehu Mohammed, commended the officers for their conduct, describing it as a clear demonstration of the organisation’s commitment to honesty, accountability and service.

He praised the Zaria command for maintaining high standards of discipline and transparency, stressing that integrity remains a core value guiding the operations of the corps.

Beneficiaries of the recovered money expressed appreciation for the officers’ actions, noting that the FRSC personnel not only responded quickly to rescue victims but also protected their hard-earned money during a difficult moment.

They also pledged to support road safety awareness and responsible driving practices within their communities.

The FRSC noted that the incident highlights the agency’s dedication to professionalism and integrity in the discharge of its duties.
