Boosting Food Security: New Partnership to Revolutionize Agricultural Education in Nigeria

In a progressive step toward global academic integration, Educa.ng reports that, the Olusegun Agagu University of Science and Technology (OAUSTECH), Okitipupa, Ondo State, has entered a bilateral partnership with the University of the Free State, South Africa. The two institutions signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) designed to promote collaboration in research, innovation, and higher education development.

The agreement, according to Mr. Paul Adeagbo, OAUSTECH’s Director of Information, Protocol, and Public Relations, will encompass collaborative academic initiatives in agriculture, science, and technology. Specific areas include joint research projects, faculty and student exchanges, and comprehensive capacity-building programmes.

At the formal signing ceremony held at OAUSTECH’s campus, the university’s Vice Chancellor, Prof. Temi Ologunorisa, described the development as a significant boost to the institution’s vision of international academic excellence. “This MoU paves the way for impactful research, cultural exchange, and global knowledge sharing,” he remarked.

Prof. Anthea Rhoda, acting Vice-Chancellor and Principal of the University of the Free State, emphasized the value of this international alliance. “Through this collaboration, we aim to promote best practices, enrich faculty capabilities, and provide dynamic academic experiences for students in both institutions,” she stated.

This international partnership underscores OAUSTECH’s commitment to becoming a research-driven university with global relevance.
