OIL AND GAS MAGNATE BECOMES TENNIS PHILANTROPIST

It’s been ten days of non-stop tennis action at the Lagos Country Club Ikeja which was organized by Mr Gabriel Ogbechie GMD rainoil.

A tennis philanthropist who is currently sponsoring a young man name Sylvester Emmanuel through a USD90,000 scholarship in Spain.
The open tennis tournament finally came to an end on the 17, Dec  with Henry Atseye winning the Male singles defeating former South Africa based player Joseph Imeh with leading points of  6-3, 5-7, 6-2 on Sunday and earned himself a cheque worth N500,000  but he also declared that Imeh was a tough one and has the potential of dominating the Nigerian tennis scene in the nearest future.
Meanwhile for the female singles Sarah Adegoke emerged winner bagging N350,000 playing against top seed Samuel blessing with leading points of 6-3, 6-3
The oil and gas billionaire pledges support for the development of Nigerian tennis adding that Rainoil will not shy away from investing in the growth of the game so that the country can produce players that can feature in Grand Slams as it once used to.
Nigeria Tennis Federation President, Akindayo Ifedoju Who was also present at the tournament said that the new tournament will in no small way aid in getting the game in the country to a higher level
“Tennis is getting better in Nigeria. The tournament is coming at the right time as we believe that regular tournaments will get the best out of the players and also stimulate the development of tennisin the country.”
