Kemi Olunloyo threatens N2bn suit against 2 media houses

Controversial media personality Kemi Olunloyo also known online as Snitchlady, is at it again; this time, the journalist, pharmacist, gun violence activist and social media personality is preparing to sue two Nigerian media platforms for calling her a ‘fake journalist’.

Kemi who is also the editor of #HNNAfrica, a world and health news blog, did not mention the media houses in question in her post on Instagram but went on to say that she has warned both media outlets three times to retract and apologize.

The daughter of a former governor of Oyo State noted she has been forced to file a libel lawsuit that will be announced by her corporate lawyers this month after the said platforms chose to ignore her warnings since November 2016 and have continued to refer to her as such even through her arrest period in their stories.

“I am filing a libel lawsuit that will be announced by my corporate lawyers this month on 2 Nigerian media outlets for N1Billion each for calling me a FAKE journalist! The actual wording used was “self-acclaimed journalist.

“I am NOT self-acclaimed! I actually have a FIRST CLASS U.S trained Broadcast Journalism diploma from the Broadcasting Institute of Maryland and a member of NATAS (National Academy of Television arts and sciences) #Emmys, the prestigious APC #Atlanta Press club and CARAS (Canadian Academy of recording arts and sciences) #Junos.

“I am globally known and have a Wikipedia profile that depicts my appearances on international news outlets. Ignorance does not excuse STUPIDITY.

“I have warned both media outlets three times to retract and apologize. They chose to ignore me since November 2016 and have continued to call me that even thru my arrest period in their stories.

“The 4th warning is a libel suit. One is a major news daily in Nigeria. The other is a very popular online news platform. I am seeking ONE BILLION NAIRA EACH from them. They have watered down my degree and given several bloggers the right to call me the same. It hurts when you are known globally and your own country pulls you down. Know the difference between libel, slander and defamation.”

In the last three months, Kemi has been embroiled in a defamation case which saw her spend 81 days in Port Harcourt prison.

She was arrested and jailed after she published an article on her blog accusing General Overseer of Salvation Ministries Pastor David Ibiyeomie of infidelity.

Kemi was nabbed after Pastor Ibiyeomie petitioned the police claiming that she criminally defamed him by posting an article on her blog alleging he is an adulterer, a claim he said defamed his character.
